SWAC Soccer Weekly Awards: Sept. 16

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama A&M’s Czaske Deane, Moriah Watkins, Brea Bailey and Madelyn Cornwell along with Prairie View A&M’s Ashanti Hall its Soccer Players of the Week for their outstanding performances this past week.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Deane helped the Bulldogs with the game-winning goal in the 3-2 road victory over West Georgia last week. She scored the second and third goals, the last coming just two minutes after UWG had tied the game at two.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Watkins, who played 85 of the 90 minutes, recorded an assist on Bailey's opening goal. She helped secure the backline in AAMU earning the road victory.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Cornwell registered six saves in 90 minutes for the Bulldogs, including making a diving stop in the final two minutes to preserve the Alabama A&M win.

Co-Newcomer of the Week
Bailey, who entered the game off the bench, notched the opening goal, giving Alabama A&M a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute at West Georgia. She finished with two shots on target.
 
Co-Newcomer of the Week
Hall tallied her third goal of the season against Houston Christian as she currently leads the team in goals with three.
