BATON ROUGE, La.- Southern University claimed a 1-0 win over Southern Miss on Sunday afternoon at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The Lady Jaguars struck early in the 14th minute, as J'Lea Berry found the back of the net off an assist from Gia Johnson.
Rhyleigh Marks' strike in the 89th minute was one of two late efforts saved by Southern goalkeeper Ava Droze, who came on at the half and finished with three saves.
Southern is off to a strong start to the season as the Lady Jaguars look to repeat as league champions.
