SWAC Soccer Weekly Awards: Aug. 27

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Grambling State’s Alana Aiken and Cariana Pou, Jackson State’s Sarah Portis and Valentina Goodloe along with Alabama A&M’s Danija Walker its Soccer Players of the Week for their outstanding performances this past week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Aiken delivered a dominant performance with five shots and a hat trick, scoring all three goals in Grambling State’s 3-0 win over Hampton.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Portis led JSU's back line that refused to let SLU back into the game. She also assisted Williams on the Lady Tigers’ first goal of the game.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Pou anchored the back line in Grambling State’s 3-0 win over Hampton, helping secure a clean sheet with her steady play and strong defensive presence.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Goodloe was a key contributor during JSU's win over SLU on Sunday. She picked up six huge saves to help the Tigers' defense.

Newcomer of the Week
Walker was the lone scorer in AAMU’s upset victory over Howard University. She scored her first collegiate goal and the first Bulldog goal, which gave AAMU their first win of the season.
