BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Jackson State’s Sedgwrick Pitts Jr., Southern’s Roman Smith and Keith Fowler along with Bethune-Cookman’s Michael Carter for SWAC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Awards.
Track
Pitts Jr. continued his stellar season with another top-three finish in the 200m dash. The Texas native recorded a time of 20.87 in the event. He also competed in the 100m dash, clocking in at a 10.37 time to place sixth in the field.
Co-Field
Smith earned Co-Field Athlete of the Week after opening his 2026 season with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 2.14 meters (7'0.25").
Co-Field
Carter was the top finisher in the field for B-CU, taking fourth place in the long jump with a 7.46m jump at last weekend's UCF Black & Gold Challenge in Orlando.
Newcomer
Fowler, a freshman, was named Newcomer of the Week after placing fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.05 meters (6'8.75").
