Southwestern Athletic Conference

The 2016 Southwestern Athletic Conference women's volleyball tournament will take place Friday, November 18 through Sunday, November 20 on the campus of Jackson State University in the Williams Assembly Center.

The top eight teams based on SWAC league-play records qualify for the tournament. This season, the tournament will be single-elimination, and teams will be seeded 1-8 regardless of divisional affiliation.

This year marks the 28th year schools will participate in the league's tournament. The winner of the tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Grambling State, Jackson State, Prairie View A&M, Southern and Texas Southern are the only teams to have captured the conference postseason title.

Last year, Jackson State claimed its third SWAC championship in five seasons, defeating then-defending champion Alabama State in four sets to win the title.  In 2012, Jackson State won its second consecutive postseason title. And prior to JSU's consecutive wins, Alabama A&M had claimed the title for four consecutive years and 10 of the last 13 tournament championships.

The championship match will broadcast live on ESPN3 at 3:00 p.m. CST. Fans can follow live stats for all matches and check back for box scores and photos after the match's completion.
