A back-and-forth set looked like it would be in the hands of Prairie View, but Alabama A&M was stronger late. Larissa Martinez keyed a late Panther run to help them force a 23-23 tie, but the Bulldogs took the set behind the attacks of Ashundria McNeal.
The sides traded points in the early goings of set two before the Bulldogs began to pull away, using a 10-2 run to go ahead 20-12 as they ultimately took a 2-0 set lead.
Alabama A&M came out of the gate strong in set three, amassing an 8-4 lead early. Praiire View A&M stormed back with a 6-2 run to tie it, but the Bulldogs put together a run of its own to distance itself from the Panthers at 19-13.
The advantage was short-lived as PVAMU again fought back, pulling off a 5-0 run while facing match point to force a fourth set.
Much like the prior frames, the deciding set was virtually even early. AAMU built a 15-10 lead but PVAMU put together offense to tie it. However, the Bulldogs doubled-up the Panthers down the stretch to close it out. AAMU will face Alabama State in the semifinals tomorrow at 1 pm.
