Texas Southern 3, Jackson State 0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-15)Box ScoreJACKSON, Miss. - No. 2 seed Texas Southern swept defending champion and No. 7-seed Jackson State in the final quarterfinal match of the SWAC Volleyball Tournament.
Texas Southern had little trouble in set one, roaring out to an 8-3 start on its way to a double-digit set victory. TSU appeared on its way to another one-sided set win, jumping to an 8-2 start. Jackson State returned fire with a 12-4 run to lead by two.
TSU regrouped to knot the game at 16, and the sides traded scores. Ultimately, Kali Fluke was a difference-maker down the stretch, notching a couple of kills as TSU managed to wrangle a 2-0 set lead.
Jackson State was unable to mount enough resistance in set three, as another fast start eventually allowed the set -- and the match -- to fall in favor of the Tigers.
Texas Southern will now face Southern in the semifinals. Start time is set for 3:00 PM.
