Alabama A&M Claims SWAC Regular Season Title

HUNSTVILLE, Ala.- Alabama A&M secured a 4-1 victory over Jackson State on Saturday afternoon to claim the SWAC Men’s Tennis Regular Season title.

The Bulldogs used a dominant performance in singles play to seal the historic win after dropping the doubles point to open the match. 

Alabama A&M responded in singles with four straight victories across the lineup to clinch the match and the conference title. Arnav Pathange set the tone at No. 1 singles with a commanding straight-set win (6-2, 6-4), while Yin Chih Lan followed with a dominant (6-1, 6-1) victory at the No. 2 position. 

Tasso Moreira extended the Bulldogs' momentum with a (7-5, 6-1) win at No. 3 singles, putting AAMU in position to close out the match. Eduardo de Benedictis Andreta delivered the clincher at No. 5 singles with a decisive (6-2, 6-2) victory to secure the 4-1 team win. 

With the win, Alabama A&M caps off the regular season atop the SWAC standings while claiming the No. 1 seed at the SWAC Tournament set to be held later this month.
