BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Prairie View A&M holds the lead following the opening round of the 2026 SWAC Women’s Golf Championship, which began Monday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley (Ridge Course).
 
Prairie View A&M posted a team score of 317 (+29) to sit in first place after 18 holes. Texas Southern is in second place with a score of 323 (+35), followed by Alabama State in third at 332 (+44). Jackson State (336, +48), Southern (341, +53), and Bethune-Cookman (343, +55) round out the team standings after the first round.
 
Individually, Prairie View A&M’s Kacey Menyoli leads the field after shooting a 78 (+6). A tie for second place includes Texas Southern’s Thaiz Amezcua and Prairie View A&M’s Fernanda Rendon, each carding a 79 (+7).
 
Four players are tied for fourth place at 80 (+8): Prairie View A&M’s Nevaeh Figueroa and Madison Williams, Alabama State’s Kierra Williams and Carmen Fletcher, and Texas Southern’s Carmen Pate. Jackson State’s Isabella Christy and Prairie View A&M’s Micajah Joubert are also among those at 80 (+8).
 
Bethune-Cookman’s Lathika Krishna and Texas Southern’s Azul Amezcua are part of a group tied for 11th place after posting rounds of 81 (+9), while several players from Southern and Alabama State are also positioned within the top 15 following the first round.
 
The championship continues with round two scheduled for tomorrow beginning at 7:30 am CST.
