BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2026 SWAC Softball Preseason selections on Tuesday morning. The preseason selections were voted upon by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
 
Grambling State’s Kamryn Broussard was tabbed Preseason Player of the Year while Florida A&M’s Amari Brown was named Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Broussard had a spectacular regular season campaign for the Grambling State Tigers. She contributed a .448 batting average to go along with 60 hits and three homeruns.

Brown had an impressive campaign for the Florida A&M Rattlers this past season. She was also a key contributor for FAMU at the 2025 SWAC Softball Tournament inside the circle. For her efforts she was voted as a member of the all-tournament team.

The 2026 SWAC Softball regular season is set to begin this week with league teams returning to action. The SWAC Softball Tournament will be held May 5-8 (*May 9 if necessary) at the Gulfport Sportsplex located in Gulfport, Miss.
