JSU Concludes Season with 2-1 Loss to Belmont

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- It was a close one on Saturday, as the Jackson State softball team came up one run short of victory, falling to the Belmont Bruins 2-1 in conclusion to its historic 2025 campaign.

Jorgina Gant (9-8) took the loss in the circle for Jackson State (29-25). Brooklyn Morris started the ballgame and went five innings, surrendering one run on five hits, walking none and striking out one.

  • Jackson State got an RBI single from Kristina Carlson, scoring Meah Almaraz from second base.
  • Belmont then scored one time over the remaining of five innings to break the tie and grab the 2-1 win.

  • Jackson State's highest scoring inning was the second, when it pushed one run across.
  • JSU's pitchers faced 26 Belmont hitters in the game, allowing 11 ground balls and six fly balls while striking out one.
  • The Tigers drew four walks from Belmont pitching.
  •  Almaraz led the Tigers at the plate, going 2 for 2 with a double.
  • Belmont was led offensively by Rylee Spindler, who went 2 for 3 with a triple.
  • Ellie Giles led the Bruins pitching staff, throwing five innings of one-run ball.
