SWAC Softball Weekly Awards: Feb. 25

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama A&M’s Kali Austerman and Alabama State’s Kohana Pousson for SWAC Softball Weekly Awards. 
 
Hitter/Newcomer

Austerman batted .500, going 11-of-22 at the plate, with a pair of doubles and two home runs. In addition, she drove in 13 and scored 10 times.
 
Pitcher
Pousson posted a 1.29 ERA over 16.1 innings pitched, notching 24 strikeouts against one walk while allowing three runs on four hits this past week of competition.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is considered one of the premier HBCU conferences in the country and currently ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of HBCU alumni playing with professional sports teams.

Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, and Tennis.

Women’s competition is offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball.
