SWAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards: Jan. 21

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Florida A&M’s Tara Bert, Alabama State’s Amaya Burrows and Alabama A&M’s Laura Avila for SWAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards. 
 
Track

Bert continued her strong campaign with a third-place finish in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:12.47 in a highly competitive race. She followed that effort with a top-10 performance in the mile, crossing the line in 4:56.23.
 
Field
Burrows etched her name into the record books with a historic performance in the shot put, posting a throw of 14.13 meters to establish a new Alabama State school record.
 
Newcomer
Avila placed sixth in the 5000m, crossing the line in 18:18.95, and breaking the mark by more than a minute at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
