Florida A&M Claims SWAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship Title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Florida A&M track and field program will return from the 2024 SWAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships with 15 medals and the women's championship title. 

The success marks the second championship under Garfield Ellenwood II, the Rattlers' Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, who recently led the women's cross country team to the podium this past fall. FAMU's medal count over the two-day indoor meet included six gold, five silver, and four bronze. 

In the women's standings, nine points separated the No. 1 and No. 2 teams; Florida A&M recorded 122 to defeat the reigning SWAC champions, Alabama State as the Lady Hornets finished in second place (113 points) followed by Prairie View A&M (100 points).
