SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Day One Recap

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas- Day one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded with Grambling State (15 points) and Prairie View A&M (36 points) leading the women’s and men’s fields respectively after early competition.

Individually on the women’s side Alcorn State’s Runelda Jackson finished in first place in the 10,000 meter run (39:33.17). Southern’s Alexandria McCoy claimed first place in the women’s hammer throw (51.19 m).

On the men’s side Prairie View A&M Jemal Wote finished in first place in the men’s 10,000 meter run (32:33.63). Mykh Oppon won the men’s hammer throw (50.24 m) while Texas Southern’s Chadric Williams won the javelin (52.40 m).

Tomorrow’s events start at 8:00 am with the day two of the decathlon followed by day two of the heptathlon starting at 8:30 am.

Saturday's events will be streamed live on the SWAC Digital Network with coverage starting at 1:00 pm.
