SWAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Honors: Mar. 25

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama A&M’s Akia Slaughter its SWAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week and Danice Loney its SWAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for their outstanding performances during competition.

Slaughter (Smyrna, Ga.) delivered a record setting outing among an impressive performance as Alabama A&M women's track & field competed at the Montevallo Falcon Classic from March 19-20. Slaughter was dominant as she placed 1-of-49 in the 200-meters and broke the meet record with a time of 24.76. She also earned a 1-of-42 finish in the 100-meters, crossing the line in 12.34.

Loney (Melbourne, Fla.) delivered a record setting performance as Alabama A&M women's track & field delivered impressive performances at the Montevallo Falcon Classic from March 19-20. She continued to excel in the pole vault, clearing at 3.70 for a 1-of-17 finish. That mark not only was good enough for first place in this year's meet but also broke the meet record.
