By the Numbers

• Mississippi Valley State, Head Coach Shay Ashford earned her first head coaching win over Wiley College on Saturday, September 5.
• Florida A&M’s win over UConn saw the trio of LaDonna Trantham (17) , Farah Farooq (12) and Iyonnie Sandford (11) combine for 40 kills.
• Alabama A&M leads at the top of the standings with a 5-2 overall record as the Lady Bulldogs snagged two wins over West Georgia and Georgia State over the weekend.
• Friday, September 25 opens conference play in SWAC Volleyball where all 12 institutions take the court for the first half of SWAC play.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is considered one of the premier HBCU conferences in the country and currently ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of HBCU alumni playing with professional sports teams.

Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, and Tennis. 

Women’s competitions are offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball.
