BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As action continues with the 2026 season growing, SWAC Play for Women’s Soccer officially opened with conference opener matches played on Sunday, September 27^th.

By the Numbers

• Texas Southern’s Ava Coverdale led with four goals in the SWAC Opener for Texas Southern in the win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Rayal Henderson followed with a brace along with Ava Magana and Bianca Miller adding the remaining goals.
• Jackson State’s Kianah Farmer, Ryanne Hawthorn-Harper and Akeelah Mirza added a goal in the shutout win over Southern. In goal, Taylor Osborn added a clean sheet with six saves.
• Two matches (AAMU/GSU; ALCRN/ASU) ended in a draw moving their record in SWAC play to 0-0-1.
• Following the open weekend of SWAC play, Texas Southern and Jackson State move to 1-0 in SWAC play.
