BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced the weekly awards for September 15, 2026, where Alcorn State saw three award winners with Grace Ambrose earning Offensive Player of the Week, Renata Da Rosa swiping Goalkeeper of the Week and Leyla Llanos Boursiquot earning Newcomer of the Week. Adriana Durango from Alabama A&M rounds of the weekly awards as the Defensive Player of the Week.
SWAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week: Grace Ambrose, Alcorn State
For the fourth time of the 2026 season, Grace Ambrose earns Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Lady Braves go 1-0-1 on the week. In the September 10 matchup against Jacksonville State, Ambrose led with a brace and one assist on four shots on goal as Alcorn State rolled past Jax State with a 4-1 final score. Ambrose followed in the September 13 match against Troy with two assists as the Lady Braves finished with a 3-3 draw. Ambrose leads the SWAC with eight goals, 21 shots on goal, two game-winning goals, and 21 points. Nationally, Ambrose is tied first with 3.00 points per game, tied fifth in goals, and tied second in total points.
SWAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week: Adriana Durango, Alabama A&M
The Sophomore from West Palm Beach, Florida helped the Lady Bulldogs avoid a loss to East Texas A&M on September 10, 2026, rallying with two crucial saves in the final eight minutes while finishing with a total of eight saves in the match. In goal, Durango is 1-2-1 while adding 21 saves, holding a number five ranking in the SWAC in that category. Durango adds a .700 save percentage while averaging 4.20 saves per game. Following an impactful match in goal, Adriana Durango earns her first weekly honor of the season.
SWAC Women’s Soccer Newcomer of the Week: Leyla Llanos Bourisquot, Alcorn State
The Sophomore Defender from Pierrefonds, Quebec, Canada made her presence felt during the September 10 matchup with Jacksonville State, adding a goal and two points. Bourisquot added two shots on goal and was a key contributor in the 4-1 win over the Gamecocks. After a week in contributing to Alcorn State’s offensive firepower, Leyla Llanos Bourisquot adds her first weekly honor of the season.
SWAC Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week: Renata Da Rosa, Alcorn State
The Freshman Goalkeeper from Montevideo, Uruguay went 1-0-1 during the two matches played in the week of Sept. 7 through Sept. 13. Da Rosa added four saves in the 4-1 win over Jacksonville State and followed with two saves in the Sunday matchup against Troy. In four starts on the season, Renata Da Rosa leads Alcorn State with 12 saves and adds her first weekly honor of the season.
