BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama A&M’s Kalia Walker and Jaida Belton along with Alabama State’s Charlese McClendon for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards.
Player
Walker shot 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the floor to help Alabama A&M to a perfect 2-0 record during the week, with victories over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State. She averaged 17.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in the two games.
Impact
Belton averaged nearly a double-double in a pair of victories for the Bulldogs last week. She shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the floor, averaging 13.0 points and 9.5 boards, along with 1.5 blocks, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals.
Newcomer
McClandon helped the Hornets to a 2-0 record with wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State this past week. She scored 10 points and had seven rebounds, two steals, and a block against MVSU. McClendon recorded her third double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 15 rebounds against UAPB to end the week.
