BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Florida A&M’s Shaniyah McCarthy, Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Jailah Pelly and Texas Southern’s Taliyah Logwood for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards.
Player
McCarthy averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds across the two-game stretch while shooting an efficient 52 percent from the field and 87 percent at the free-throw line. She also added 2.0 steals per game, helping power FAMU on both ends of the floor.
Impact
Pelly played a pivotal role in helping UAPB earn victories over Jackson State and Alcorn State. Over the two games, she averaged 15.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, while also shooting efficiently from the perimeter.
Newcomer
Logwood was a key contributor for Texas Southern during this past week of competition. She averaged 23.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game during road contests at Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M.
