By the Numbers
  • Grambling State’s goal at the 74th minute against Alcorn State by Brianna Murphy helped the Lady Tigers avoid a loss ending the match in a draw.
  • Alabama A&M’s Albany Rios scored the game-winning goal at the 89th minute to propel the Lady Bulldogs past Alabama State.
  • Texas Southern’s Ava Coverdale added a brace in the win over Prairie View A&M to move the Lady Tigers to 2-0 in SWAC Play, while moving Coverdale to tie first in the conference with eight goals scored.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is considered one of the premier HBCU conferences in the country and currently ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of HBCU alumni playing with professional sports teams.

Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, and Tennis. 

Women’s competitions are offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball.
