JSU Falls Short to Memphis in First Round of WNIT

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Angel Jackson collected a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the Jackson State women's basketball team fell short of Memphis 79-68 on the road Thursday evening in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

The Tigers had four players score in double figures, led by Daja Woodard, who had 15 points and two blocks. Ti'lan Boler added 13 points and Daphane White helped out with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Angel Jackson pulled down five offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Jackson State, grabbing 17 boards and turning them into 22 second chance points.

The Jackson State defense held Memphis' shooters to just 35.6 percent from the field.
