BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State’s Ayana Emmanuel and Alabama A&M’s Amiah Simmons for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.
Player of the Week
Emmanuel posted back-to-back impressive outings this past week of competition as the Lady Hornets went 2-0 for the week with wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State respectively. She averaged a league leading 23.0 points per game to go along with 2.0 steals per game.
Impact Player of the Week
Simmons contributed two impressive games this past week for Alabama A&M with a game-high 25 points and a career-high 18 rebounds during a AAMU’s win over Mississippi Valley State. She followed that effort with 17 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday. Simmons narrowly missed averaging a double-double for the week as she averaged 9.5 rebounds per game.
