LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State will look to return to championship form after finishing second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division last season.
 
Offensively the Braves return key contributor Niko Duffey at running back. Duffey was named to the 2022 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team after ranking fourth in the SWAC in rushing yards last season with 805 rushing yards and four touchdowns. For his efforts he was selected to the All-SWAC Second Team at the conclusion of the season.
 
Senior wide receiver CJ Bolar finished the season ninth in the SWAC with 668 receiving yards to go along with five touchdowns. He averaged 60.7 receiving yards per contest including a 152-yard effort in a win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
 
On the defensive side linebacker Claudin Cherelus was selected to the 2022 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team. Last season he finished eighth in the SWAC in tackles (76). In addition, he finished eleventh in tackles for loss with a total of 11.
 
The Braves will open the season at home against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, September 3^rd. The listing of the upcoming SWAC football broadcasts featuring Alcorn State can be found below.
