GRAMBLING, La. – The Grambling State Tigers enter the 2022 season looking to rebound from a 2021 campaign that saw them finish fourth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division.
 
Under the direction of new head coach Hue Jackson, the Tigers return several key contributors on both sides of the ball. Jackson has more than 30 years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and professional levels. He began his coaching career in 1987 at the University of the Pacific, his alma mater, and spent most of the next 13 years in the college ranks. Jackson then moved to the professional ranks in 2001 and remained as a coach in the National Football League until 2019. 
 
The Tigers’ defense is packed with impactful returners such as junior defensive lineman Sundiata Anderson who was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list and finished with 41 total tackles, including 26 solo stops as he was an All-SWAC First Team selection last season. He was named to the Preseason All-SWAC First Team entering this season.
 
Senior Garrett Urban was a key contributor to the Tigers’ special unit as a punter and kicker. Urban was named to the All-SWAC Second Team last season, while being named the Grambling State Most Valuable Player at the 48th Annual Bayou Classic after connecting on five field goals, including the game-winner against rival Southern.
