BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Mississippi Valley State’s Dreylin Holmes and Bethune-Cookman’s Louis Lipthratt for SWAC Baseball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.
Hitter of the Week
Holmes hit .500 (10-for-20) over five games, driving in 11 RBIs, scoring nine runs, while hitting four home runs, along with two doubles and two stolen bases. He had multi-homer games against both Tougaloo and Bethune-Cookman in which he went 6-for-9 with nine runs batted in while scoring six times with three hits in each of those contests.
Pitcher of the Week
Lipthratt posted another exceptional Friday night start for a critical series-opening win for the Wildcats against Mississippi Valley State. Lipthratt threw 8.1 innings allowing no earned runs on one hit, a walk, and seven strikeouts.
