BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Jackson State’s Ameshya Williams-Holliday and Texas Southern’s Ataiya Bridges for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.
Player of the Week
Williams-Holliday had two double-double performances this past week while averaging 28.5 points per game and shooting 39 percent from the field. Against FAMU she scored a game-high 33 points to go along with 11 rebounds and a steal. Williams-Holliday added another double-double against Bethune-Cookman scoring 24 points while also tallying 13 rebounds, six blocks, two assists and a steal.
Impact Player of the Week
Bridges averaged 27.0 points per game, 7.5 assists per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 1.5 steals per game as Texas Southern won its second straight game this past week. She scored 34 points to go along with seven assists against Grambling State. She followed that performance with another solid outing against Southern tallying 20 points and eight assists while shooting 26-of-28 from the free throw line for the week.
