Grambling State Baseball Bounces Back, Advances To Next Round

MADISON, Ala.- The Grambling State baseball team (17-26) defeated Texas Southern at Toyota Field on Friday morning to stay alive in the 2021 SWAC Baseball Tournament. 

Solid pitching performances from both Marc Luna and Jordan Martinez resulted in the game being scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. Cameron Bufford drew a one-out walk and scored on an RBI single from Jahmoi Percival. Texas Southern responded with one run on two hits. 

In the eight inning, TSU plated one run on one hit to take a late 2-1 lead. Grambling State responded in the bottom of the eight inning plating four runs.

Grambling State's Cameron Bufford got the hot inning started with a single to left field. Percival drew a walk followed by a three run homer crushed to left field by Jordyn Smith to retake the lead 5-2. 

In the top of the ninth inning, Texas Southern attempted to rally back by managing to get two on base but both runners were left stranded.
