Tournament Bracket
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced the 2021 SWAC Baseball Tournament field, with Prairie View A&M and Jackson State heading into the postseason with respective number one seeds.
Prairie View A&M (12-7 SWAC) clinched the Western Division championship. Grambling State earned the #2 seed with a 12-9 record in conference play. Rounding out the field for the SWAC Western Division is #3 seed Southern (13-11 SWAC) and #4 Texas Southern (10-14 SWAC).
In the Eastern Division Jackson State comes in as the top seed with an undefeated 24-0 record in SWAC competition. Alabama State (14-7 SWAC) earned the #2 seed and looks for its second-straight trip to the championship game, having last won the tournament in 2016. Alabama A&M (9-13 SWAC) is the #3 seed, and Alcorn State (6-16 SWAC) is the East’s #4 seed in the tournament field.
The 2021 SWAC Baseball Tournament is scheduled to run from May 19-23 at Toyota Field in Madison, Alabama. The opening-round matchups are as follows:
Wednesday, May 19
West #2 Grambling State vs. #3 East Alabama A&M- 9:00 a.m.
East #2 Alabama State vs. West #3 Southern- 12:00 p.m.
East #1 Jackson State vs. West #4 Texas Southern- 3:00 p.m.
West #1 Prairie View A&M vs. East #4 Alcorn State- 6:00 p.m.
