BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State’s Trey Callaway, Bethune-Cookman’s Jose Fernandez and Jackson State’s Talmadge Davis for SWAC Baseball Weekly Awards.
Co-Hitter/ Newcomer
Callaway helped lead Alabama State to a 3-1 week while batting. 467 during four starts behind the plate. He belted three home runs with a double, seven RBI, and five runs scored.
Co-Hitter
Fernandez collected seven hits, scored two runs and drove in eight RBI with help from a grand slam on Saturday. He also tallied two doubles, a walk and stole a base.
Pitcher
Davis picked up the win in the opening game of the series with Alabama A&M in a run-rule victory for Jackson State. He pitched a complete game (seven innings), allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts and a pair of walks.
