SWAC Baseball Weekly Awards: Mar. 4

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Bethune-Cookman’s Darryl Lee and Michael Benedict along with Alabama State’s Jorhan LaBoy for SWAC Baseball Weekly Awards. 
 
Hitter

Lee was named SWAC Hitter of the Week for the first time this season after finishing as one of the top bats in a dominant 4-0 series sweep against Delaware State. In 14 at-bats in the series, he scored 10 runs, tallied 10 hits (six for extra bases) along with four RBI, five doubles, and two steals.

Pitcher
Laboy picked up a 6-1 win during Alabama State’s series opener against Valparaiso last week. He tossed 7.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.
 
Newcomer
Benedict saw his first career weekly honors with SWAC Newcomer of the Week. In two appearances against USF and Delaware State, he tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits with six strikeouts.
