Box Score

HUNSTVILLE, Ala.- The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team secured a hard fought victory over Grambling State on Tuesday evening at the AAMU Event Center, clinching the Southwestern Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship for the first time in school history.

The Bulldogs weathered a second-half surge from the Tigers and held on down the stretch to earn a 55–50 win.

Alabama A&M, 20-9 overall, 16-1 SWAC, established control early, outscoring Grambling 16-10 in the opening quarter before extending the advantage with a strong second period to carry a 37-25 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs capitalized on defensive pressure and second-chance opportunities to maintain momentum throughout the first half.

Kalia Walker paced the Bulldogs offensively with 19 points, adding four rebounds and two steals. Coriah Beck contributed 10 points and seven rebounds, while Aniya Palmer added eight points and seven rebounds.

Grambling State attempted to rally in the second half, trimming the deficit to single digits as the Tigers attempted to keep up with the Bulldogs in the third quarter. Alabama A&M remained composed down the stretch, however, using key baskets and defensive stops in the final minutes to hold off the comeback and secure the five-point victory.

The Bulldogs finished the contest with a 41-36 rebounding advantage and converted 23 second-chance points, proving pivotal in the tightly contested matchup.
