BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Grambling State’s Cameron Hill, Bethune-Cookman’s Edwin Sanchez, Jackson State’s Jayden Lopez and Texas Southern’s Byron Robinson for SWAC Baseball Weekly Awards.
Hitter
Hill had a big weekend at the plate for Grambling State. In GSU's weekend sweep of Alabama A&M he batted .500 (6-for-12) with 11 RBI, two homeruns and two doubles.
Pitcher
Sanchez was outstanding versus Alcorn State as Bethune-Cookman improved to a perfect 6-0 in SWAC. He tossed seven innings of one-run ball, allowing just five hits with four strikeouts.
Co-Newcomer
Lopez picked up the win over Prairie View A&M on Sunday, working six-plus innings in a 15-4 seven-inning, run-rule victory for Jackson State. He allowed a pair of runs on three hits, while striking out eight to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Co-Newcomer
Robinson was impressive during this past week of competition for Texas Southern. He tallied a team leading 11 runs to go along with eight hits and five homeruns.
