SWAC Women's Basketball Weekly Awards: Jan. 6

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Grambling State’s Shaniah Nunn, Alabama A&M’s Jaida Belton and Mississippi Valley State’s Ariel Jefferson for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards. 
 
Player

Nunn scored 20 points on 9-15 shooting and grabbed seven boards to go along with three steals in a 85-60 win over Prairie View A&M while averaging 16.5 points per game this past week.
 
Impact
Belton averaged a double-double for Alabama A&M with 11.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the floor. 

Newcomer 
Jefferson logged season-highs for both minutes (37) and free throws made (5) as MVSU won its first SWAC opener since 2019, knocking off Alabama A&M in overtime.
