BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced its 2025 Preseason All-SWAC Volleyball team and individual award winners as voted by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
Prairie View A&M’s Kylee Owens was named Preseason Player of the Year while Kaylen Hines was tabbed Preseason Blocker of the Year. Florida A&M’s Dylan Haskins was selected Preseason Libero of the Year and Jackson State Karys Dove was named Preseason Setter of the Year to round out individual award selections.
Player of the Year
Owens had an exceptional regular season of competition for the Lady Panthers. She led the team in kills at the conclusion of the regular season, with 372 this season as well as a team high 49 service aces ranking her first in the conference. Owens also marked a milestone posting over 1,000 career kills during her impressive career.
Blocker of the Year
Hines received first team All-SWAC honors after leading the Hornets and contributing 203 kills this past season. Her .312 hitting percentage also led Alabama State in that category. She registered her total number of kills in 26 matches with 25 starts and 95 sets while averaging 2.14 kills per set.
Libero of the Year
Haskins appeared in 25 matches, playing a total of 90 sets. She tallied 319 digs, averaging approximately 3.6 digs per set, establishing herself as a consistent presence in the backcourt. Haskins also contributed 66 assists and 19 service aces this past season of competition.
Setter of the Year
Dove amassed 640 assists during regular season competition which was the most in the league this season. She helped pace Jackson State’s offensive attack while assisting with leading the Lady Tigers to a 13-3 overall conference record.
