SWAC Soccer Weekly Awards: Oct. 8

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alcorn State’s Iesha Rollins along with Jackson State’s Sarah Portis, Taylor Osborn and Zaniyah Gonzague Soccer Players of the Week for their outstanding performances this past week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Rollins had a great week for Alcorn State with a hat trick and an assist as her pace and finishing were key in leading the Lady Braves offense.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Portis was a key contributor for Jackson State as the Lady Tigers captured two shut out victories this past week of competion. 
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Osborn was effective inside the net for Jackson State as she tallied eleven saves averaging 5.5 saves per game. 
 
Newcomer of the Week
Gonzague registered a game winning goal for Jackson State this past week of competion as the Lady Tigers went 2-0 for the week.
