BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Jackson State’s Jayden James and Kamiera Watkins, Florida A&M’s Victoria Santana and Makenzie Taylor along with Alabama A&M’s Rayishon Jackman for Volleyball weekly awards after their outstanding performances this past week.
Offensive Player of the Week
James averaged 6.22 pps, 5.44 kps, 2.77 dps while hitting .360 to lead Jackson State to three conference wins this past week of competition.
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Santana, across two matches recorded 33 digs averaging 5.5 per set and posted a perfect 1.000 reception percentage on 39 attempts.
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Watkins collected 14 blocks for Jackson State during this past week of competition while averaging 1.6 bps.
Setter of the Week
Over two matches, Taylor dished out 58 assists for an average of 9.67 per set while adding five kills, two service aces, and four total blocks.
Newcomer of the Week
Jackman finished with 28 kills, 17 digs, one block assist and one service ace in games against Memphis and Alabama State. while averaging 3.5 kills and 2.1 digs per set.
