BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Jackson State’s Jayden James and Karys Dove, Alabama State’s Jyriah Morgan and Kamrynn Clay along with Alabama A&M’s Kelani Talakai and Rayishon Jackman for weekly awards after their outstanding performances this past week.
Co-Offensive
James spearheaded the Lady Tigers offensive hitting .308 over two conference victories, averaging 5.28 kps and 2.71 dps. She dominated in a sweep of B-CU, where she led all players with 20 kills (6.67 kps), boasting a hitting average of .342.
Co-Offensive
Morgan led the Hornets to a pair of wins to open conference play as she recorded 26 kills in six matches. Against Grambling State she contributed 14 kills without an error in only 20 attacks for a .700 attack percentage.
Defensive
Talakai finished with 32 digs, averaging 5.33 digs per set, along with five service aces against Grambling State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She posted a match-high 24 digs, three assists and two service aces in a sweep over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Co-Setter
Clay had a week which saw her have over 30 assists for the third consecutive match. She had a season-high 35 assists in the Hornets' win over Grambling State and followed that up with a new season-high when she collected 39 assists in the three-set win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Co-Setter
Dove tallied 50 assists over the weekend (7.14 aps), where she led all setters with two conference victories and earned a double-double versus B-CU, notching 23 assists (5.75 aps) and leading all players with 11 digs (3.67 dps).
Newcomer
Jackman registered 26 kills, hitting .333, while averaging 4.33 kills per set. She added 20 digs, two service aces and 2.0 total blocks as the Bulldogs started conference play with a pair of victories. She posted 17 kills and seven digs in the three-set win over Grambling State.
