TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Alabama State women's cross country team claimed the 2024 SWAC Women’s Cross Country Championship title at Apalachee Regional Park on Monday morning.
 
It was the Alabama State Lady Hornets first title in women’s cross country since the 2019 season. Alabama State’s Shamia Jones claimed the individual women’s title finishing the race with a time of 19:16.3.
 
ASU’s Aliyah Williams (19:22.2), Sanyae Gibson (19:33.2), and Angelique Degboe (19:54.6) finished the 5k race in fourth, fifth, and tenth place respectively rounding out the list of ASU top ten finishers.
 
Alabama State head women's cross country coach Richie Beene was named the 2024 SWAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
