BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Alabama State Hornets and the Southern Jaguars claimed the SWAC Eastern and Western divisional titles respectively this weekend with both teams finishing out regular season play with key series wins.
The Hornets won their three-game series against Alabama A&M while the Jaguars completed a three-game sweep over Alcorn State.
Alabama State concluded league play with a 21-8 overall conference record while Southern finished the season with a 21-9 conference mark.
Both teams will enter the 2022 SWAC Baseball Tournament as No. 1 seeds with the Jaguars looking to claim their third consecutive league tournament title. The opening day schedule for the tournament can be found below.

Game 1 – (E2) Florida A&M vs. (W3) Prairie View A&M, 9:00 a.m.
Game 2 – (W2) Grambling State vs. (E3) Bethune-Cookman, 12:00 p.m.
Game 3 – (W1) Southern vs. (E4) Jackson State, 3:00 p.m.
Game 4 – (E1) Alabama State vs. (W4) Texas Southern, 6:00 p.m.
