Alabama State Set to Compete at NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- After winning the 2026 SWAC Baseball Tournamet Championship, the Alabama State University baseball team has earned a berth into the NCAA Baseball Tournament and will compete in the NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa.
 
The Hornets secured the conference’s automatic bid following a strong run through the SWAC Baseball Tournament highlighted by standout performances from tournament MVP Miguel Oropeza along with key contributions from Jorhan LaBoy, Fabian Santana, James Peterson, Trey Callaway, and Niguel Jenkins.
 
Alabama State will open regional play against The University of Alabama on Friday, May 29 at 6:00 p.m. CST in Tuscaloosa. The NCAA Tournament appearance marks Alabama State’s first SWAC Baseball Tournament title since 2022 as they continue the program’s postseason tradition on the national stage.

The Regional format is double-elimination, with only one team advancing from each of the 16 Regional sites into its respective NCAA Super Regional.
