BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Natalie Freeman, Alabama State’s Kristen Thomas, and Prairie View A&M’s Sierra Cota-Yarde for SWAC Soccer Weekly Honors for their stellar performances during non-conference play this past week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Freeman was a significant contributor for Arkansas-Pine Bluff this past week as she helped lead the Lady Lions to two consecutive road wins. Freeman tallied five goals, 10 shots, and six shots on goal during her last two games played. The Lady Lions claimed a 10-0 win over Central Baptist before subsequently notching a 5-0 over Lyon College.
Defensive Player of the Week
Thomas was instrumental during Alabama State’s shutout win over non-conference opponent South Carolina State (3-0), and also picked up an assist in the process. She would later go on to play a full match against Gardner-Webb in a 1-0 loss for the Lady Hornets at home.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Cota-Yarde has posted back-to-back clean sheets for Prairie View A&M while holding her opponents scoreless over the course of the Lady Panthers past two outings. PVAMU captured a 1-0 victory at home over Texas A&M Corpus-Christi before playing McNeese State to a 0-0 tie at home later in the week.
