Southern edges Jackson State 4-3 in First Round of SWAC Tournament

GULFPORT, Miss. - Southern defeated Jackson State in the opening round of the SWAC Tournament by a final score of 4-3. 

Southern took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before JSU got a run back in the bottom half of the first inning to cut the game to a 2-1 deficit. 

In the second and third inning, the Lady Tigers notched one run a piece, jumping to a 3-2 advantage over Southern The Lady Tigers held Southern scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning, yet the Lady Jaguars put two moe runs on the board in the top half of the sixth inning to regain the lead, 4-3.

Jackson State was unable to answer, as Southern went on to win the opening round game by a final of 4-3.
