SWAC Announces Softball Weekly Honors- April 7

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama A&M’s Esperanza Coe its SWAC Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding performances during competition in league play.

Hitter of the Week
Coe delivered an impressive week at the plate as she hit .400 (4-of-10), contributing a homerun and a double to drive in three runs while scoring three runs herself. In game one at Alcorn State she belted her fifth homerun of the season, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored while pitching a complete game. Game two would see Coe barrel up two more hits in three at bats, including a double.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Coe also had a spectacular week inside the circle for AAMU as she went 2-0 with a 0.54 earned run average. She tallied two complete games and 12 strikeouts with just four walks in 13 innings. Game two of Alabama A&M’s series with Alcorn State would see Coe scatter five hits and strike out six batters to collect her seventh win of the season.
