BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama A&M’s Esperanza Coe and Texas Southern’s Naomi Reyes its SWAC Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for their outstanding performances during competition in league play.
Hitter of the Week
Coe delivered an impressive week as she tallied three homeruns while driving in six runs. She opened the week in game one of the Prairie View A&M series as she went 1-for-3 with a solo shot and added a walk. She added a solid game two performance as she contributed a pair of homeruns, including a three-run shot, as she went 2-for-4 with five RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
Pitcher of the Week
Reyes threw a perfect game (no-hitter) against Alcorn State as she struck out nine in TSU's win on Friday. This season she has been a key contributor for the Lady Tigers pitching rotation while helping lead Texas Southern to an impressive 5-1 start in league play.
