Prairie View A&M Track and Field excels at 87th PV Relays

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M men's and women's track teams competed well during the 87th annual PV Relays, collecting several victories and setting numerous personal-bests along the way.

Notable Women's Results:
- Kaizha Roberts had herself a meet, winning the women's 100 with a new personal best of 11.86 seconds, as well as setting a new stadium record in the long jump (6.00M). These marks are the best in both events among SWAC athletes.
-Devynn King had a third -place finish in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.02 seconds to move to No. 3 in the SWAC.
- In the 100-meter hurdles the duo of Tynika Grant and Erykah Byias finished first and second, respectively.
- Senior Alicia Carter broke the stadium record in the women's 400 with a time of 56.25 seconds. Teammate Alexis Cokes finished third with a time of 59.64.
- Carter wasn't done as she blew past the field to claim the crown in the women's 200 with a time of 24.29. This time puts her in first in the conference. Teammate Asjah Harris finished second with a time of 24.80.
- Freshman Jordan Deadwyler continues to show why she leads the SWAC in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:02.54 to take the win. Grant finished third.
- PVAMU dominated the women's 800, with Dinah Murphy (2:17.37) finishing first, Shelby Devereaux (2:19.64) taking second, Sydney Devereaux (2:21.52) coming in third and Noelia Rodgriguez (2:42.47) in fourth.
- In the women's 1500, Shelby Devereaux (4:56.95) and Murphy (4:58.85) broke the stadium record, with Devereaux taking first and Murphy earning second.
-Helen Roddy finished second in the women's 5000 with a time of 20:21.21.
- In the triple jump, Katherine Jackson (12.22m) took the crown.
- Jade Harper (33.42m) set a new personal-best in the javelin, placing second. Aliya Beecham (31.42m) placed third.
- The quartet of Roberts, Harris, Darnisha Lykes, and King won the women's 4x100 relay with a time of 46.51 seconds.
- The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Deadwyler, Jai'Lynn Smith, Murphy and Carter finished second with a time of 3:54.33.
- It was a normal day at the office for senior Ja'Sha Sloan as she won the women's high jump with a leap of 1.72 meters.
- The women's team showed why PV may also stand for Pole Vault University after taking the top five spots in the event. Brianna Robinson (3.35m) was first, Maci Guy (3.20m) came in second, Jaida Payne (3.05m) took third, Jacari Tate (2.60m) earned fourth, and Beecham (2.15m) finished fifth.
 
Notable Men's Results:
- In the men's 200, Damon Cobbs took second with a time of 22.04, good for fifth-best in the conference this season. Teammate Nasir Pate was close behind posting a time of 22.06, moving him to sixth in the conference.
- Jermaine Jones (13.11m) won the men's triple jump.
-  In the men's 100-meter dash Cinceir Holmes had a second-place finish with a time of 10.76 seconds, moving him into third in the conference. Teammate Markus Hartfield was close behind with a time of 10.83 seconds, a time ranked No. 5 in the conference.
- In the men's 400, Timothy Demeritt conquered the field with a time of 47.43. Ranked No. 1 in the SWAC, Demeritt moved to No. 20 in the NCAA western region. Teammate Ethan Phillips crossed the line next with a time of 50.57.
- Byron Daniels posts a new personal best in the 800-meter run as he dominated the field with a time of 1:56.95
- Relon Jones doubled up on victories, winning both the men's discus and the hammer throw events.
- The Panthers took the top three places in the men's javelin throw with Sunne Rodriguez-Weems (49.05m) first, Darius Jackson-Rubio (37.59m) second, and Jones (33.14m) third.
- The dynamic duo of Rodriguez-Weems (6.78m) and Tristan Ham (6.45m) finished one-two in the men's long jump. The pair also went one-two in the men's pole vault, but Ham (4.75m) took the victory while Rodriguez-Weems (4.75m) finished second.
- In the men's shot put Kade Williams (11.83m), and Jones (11.58m) finished first and second, respectively.
- The quartet of Pate, Cobbs, Ethan Phillips, and Demeritt secured the 4x400-meter relay crown with a time of 3:12.51.
