ATLANTA- The Georgia Senate recognized Dr. Charles McClelland, Commissioner of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) on Monday, March 10. Following the honor, he addressed the Senate, joined by Dr. Jason Cable, Adeanah Pooler, and Keith Hillsman.
In addition to the Senate recognition, Dr. McClelland was named an “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
"I'm extremely humbled by the opportunity to be recognized by the Georgia Senate," said McClelland. "The Southwestern Athletic Conference along with our 12 member institutions are extremely excited to bring the SWAC Basketball Tournaments to the state of Georgia and the City of Atlanta."
McClelland was also interviewed by Atlanta’s NBC affiliate along with 11Alive during his historic visit to the capitol.
