Southern Upsets Arizona 63-57

TUCSON, Ariz.- Southern University pulled off one of the most impressive road wins in program history on Wednesday night, defeating Arizona 63-57 at the McKale Center.

The Lady Jaguars never trailed in the game and controlled the tempo for all four quarters against the Wildcats.

Southern opened with a strong defensive first quarter to take a 16-11 lead and carried momentum into halftime behind balanced scoring and disciplined half-court execution.

A key third-quarter stretch saw Southern withstand Arizona's best run and answer with timely baskets to maintain control.

Southern built its largest lead of the game at 11 points midway through the fourth quarter and sealed the victory at the free-throw line in the final minute of regulation.

The Lady Jaguars went 8-of-10 at the stripe for the game, including key late makes.
