BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Jackson State’s Alexis Williams, Florida A&M’s Brooke Lynn Watts and Brookelynn Thomas along with Texas Southern’s Angelika Rusin and Kennedi Walker for SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of regular season competition.
Co-Offensive
Williams tallied 48 kills this past week for Jackson State. She earned her second and third double-double of the season while notching 13 kills against Northwestern State and 14 kills versus Southern Illinois.
Co-Offensive
Watts helped the Rattlers to a perfect 4-0 week with home victories over UNF (3-2), Southern (3-0), New Orleans (3-0), and Jacksonville (3-1). She recorded 50 kills, nine service aces, and two assisted blocks.
Defensive
Rusin tallied a league high 53 digs during this past week of non-conference competition. She was a key contributor for Texas Southern defensively while averaging 3.8 digs per set.
Setter
Walker tallied a league high 127 assists during this past week of non-conference competition. She was a key contributor for Texas Southern offensively while averaging 9.1 assists per set.
Newcomer
Thomas helped the Rattlers to a perfect 4-0 week with home victories over UNF (3-2), Southern (3-0), New Orleans (3-0), and Jacksonville (3-1). She recorded a team-high 53 kills to go alongside 10 blocks (nine assisted) and 11 digs.
